How to order.
Hopefully, this
one page will provide an overview of my Bottlebrush stuff, and help you
decide what to order. If you're looking for additional info, I'll
provide links to those pages. First, what makes my stuff unique and
original, Bottlebrush.
Why
Bottlebrush?
  Bottlebrush
is a decorative landscape tree originally imported to South Florida from
Australia. Bottlebrush offers you and your bird several main
advantages.
- First, it has
natural bark. Your birds feet are designed to mesh with naturally
textured bark without requiring your bird HOLD ON or GRIP. This
means perch diameter isn't critical at all, and little birds can use
virtually any size gym. Slick, slippery perches require your
bird actually hold on and are uncomfortable at best. Over time,
slippery perches can and do cause foot problems and foot cramping.
- The outer
bark is great for chewing, and can be compared to bird candy.
Your bird will love chewing on Bottlebrush bark, and there's lots of
it to chew on my gyms.
- Underneath
Bottlebrush's succulent bark, the wood underneath is hard, but here's
the most important. Bottlebrush allows GNAWING. Gnawing is
like a dog gnawing on a bone. Gnawing is important for parrot's
health and well being, and critical for proper beak shaping and
conditioning.
- For you,
Bottlebrush looks great, after all, it's going in your home.
However, looks are only part of the benefit YOU'LL get from
Bottlebrush.
- How much do
you spend weekly/monthly on parrot chew toys. And, what happens
to them? Well, with Bottlebrush, your bird can satisfy all all
his chewing and gnawing needs, and have comfortable perches to stand
on as well.
- So, here's
what I'm saying. With my Bottlebrush stuff, you won't need to
buy any more parrot chew toys. That's right, your bird will chew
and gnaw on Bottlebrush so don't waste your hard earned money on more
chew toys.
- For detailed
info about Bottlebrush, why I use it and why you should try it, visit Why Bottlebrush, why you need it, your Parrot needs it, and why it's all I've ever used?
So, I offer a
completely different type of perch and toy wood. What do I offer
with that wood.
Now to my
Bottlebrush parrot Play Gyms.
First,
my unique and original design Bottlebrush Parrot Play Gyms.
In 1992, I decided to develop what I considered the perfect parrot play
gym. Having bought and owner virtually every type of Play Gym made,
none did what I wanted them to do, so I began to develop these. Now,
over 10,000 gyms later, they're still a work in progress and always will
be. For detailed info about my gyms, or not sure what kind of gym is
right for you and your bird, visit Lets compare parrot play gyms. How to choose the right Parrot Play Gym for your bird.

I offer my gyms
in 4 tray sizes, stacked on top of each other and pictured here for
comparison. (picture taken from above, looking straight down.)
- Large. The
bottom tray, the brown one, is my Large tray size. These trays
measure approx 21" X 34" and are a rounded rectangle.
- Above the
large, the blue trays are my Deluxe size. These measure approx
21"X29" and are a flattened teardrop shape.
- Above the
Deluxe are Medium trays that measure approx 18" X 23".
- The top tray
is my small tray, measuring approx 15"X17", rounded with a
flattened back.
So, when you buy
a gym, your actually buying it by the tray size. Then I build the branch
assembly within the confines of that tray. So, if you have an Amazon
or Grey for example, you could buy a Deluxe or Medium gym for your
bird. The actual branch diameter and perch spacing would be similar,
but the Deluxe trays are bigger so the overall gym would be bigger, with
more branches and usable space. If you want your bird to have lots
of usable space, buy the Deluxe over the Medium.
 A
word here about my branch assemblies. Most parrot gyms are designed to be
attractive to you, the owner. A perfect example are Manzanita and
Java wood trees like these pictured. They might look great to YOU,
but what's in it for your bird. The first one, with the Hyacinths,
is completely impractical and these birds have no real USABLE space.
And the Manzanita tree pictures also has very little usable space, and
only the largest birds could use this at all. And, the overall size
of the trays these gyms use are HUGE. The Java Wood tray won't even
fit thru doors!! Again, I have lots of these kinds of comparisons on
Lets compare parrot play gyms. How to choose the right Parrot Play Gym for your bird.
Here
for example is one of my Large Gyms. This one has over 7' of USABLE,
PRACTICAL perch space in a 21"X34" footprint.
- So, for
Macaws and full sized Cockatoos, buy a Large Gym.
- For all
medium to small sized parrots, look for either a Deluxe or Medium gym.
- The Small gym
is designed for all small Conures, Quakers, Cockatiels, Parakeets and
other small parrots.
Again, let me be
clear. If you have a Sun Conure and buy a Deluxe gym sized for an
Amazon Grey, it'll be fine. If you buy a Deluxe gym for your Macaw,
it's likely your Macaw will destroy the branches pretty fast, however,
consider this.
The trays are
designed to last almost forever. 3/4" furniture grade plywood,
Formica finish for beauty and easy cleaning, and a 1/8"X11/2 aluminum
border make them beautiful and almost indestructible.
So, after a
year, or two, (or maybe never depending on your bird,) you need to replace
the branches because your bird has chewed them up, you can order a
replacement branch assembly and guess what, you now have a brand new
gym! And remember, the day you get your gym is the day you STOP
buying chew toys. With those savings, how long before your gym is
paid for and you're actually MAKING money. Sounds like a pretty good
deal to me and that's what I offer.
And, the day you
order replacements, you should smile to yourself and realize you now have
a happy, contented bird that LOVES Bottlebrush so much that the branches
are chewed up.
And for you, you
have a beautiful piece of parrot furniture that looks great in your home
and allows your parrot to be a bird, in a tree like free birds do.
No more cage screaming because your bird has a life, and you can get yours
back. No more guilt on your part because you just don't have the
time to give your bird the attention you wish you could. My gyms are
designed to be your birds favorite place, a place where he wants to
be. And if your parrot wants to be there, staying there is natural
and that's what I offer. Try one of my gyms, you and your bird will
be happy you did.

This is a client Happy letter that says it all.
My Bottlebrush
Hanging Gyms are the closest thing your bird will ever get to be a free
bird hanging out in a tree. Lots of usable space, and succulent
Bottlebrush. And as with my floor gyms, at some point in the future,
you can replace the branches and have a brand new gym. The first pic
was sent to be over a year ago, the next 4 last week. If you look
closely at the branches, you'll notice lots of evidence of chewing and
gnawing, but as the saying goes, there's lots of meat left on those
bones.
My Hanging Gyms
come in 3 sizes. The Jumbo has a main top branch that measures
approx 32". The Large has a main top branch that measures
approx 28". The Medium HG has a main top branch that measures
approx 24". Below the main top branch are a spiraling staircase
of usable perches and a branch at the bottom. These gyms have a ton
of usable space and are designed to encourage climbing, hanging and all
the stuff a free bird would LOVE to do. Try one of my HGs, you and
your bird will be happy you did.

Bottlebrush
in-cage perches.
If you want to
change your birds life right now, try my Bottlebrush in-cage perches,
here's why.
Somehow, most
parrot parrot owners has lost track of one very important fact, chewing on
perches is the natural way birds chew. In the rain forest or African
plains, there aren't a lot of chew toys hanging in trees. So. here's
how it works for most of you.
You buy a cage
that comes with an across cage perch. Usually Manzanita or a wooden
dowel. Then, you buy additional perches for around the cage.
These are usually Manzanita and most of you also have pedicure perches as
well. You're told these are the right kind of perches for your bird
because they're hard and can't be chewed up. Then, your told to buy
chew toys so you bird can chew on those. Here's what's
happened.
Your bird spends
all day, everyday, and all night, every night on hard, slippery
perches. Over time, these perches begin to hurt your birds feet
because gripping or holding on isn't natural. Has your bird ever
fallen off a perch, maybe at night. Does your bird spend a lot of
time on his pedicure or sandy perch? Why, the natural texture
doesn't require holding on so these perches are more natural.
Bottlebrush
in-cage perches have deep, rich bark, like trees should and like wild
birds enjoy. They're 100% natural and comfortable for your
bird. When you add Bottlebrush perches to your birds cage, you'll
quickly realize these perches are your birds favorite. And, you'll
also see your bird behaving in a natural way, by chewing and gnawing
perches. And, again, consider each one of my Bottlebrush perches to
be a chew toy as well. So, when you get your Bottlebrush perches,
don't buy any more chew toys, don't waste your
money.
If your cage has
an across cage perch, leave it. Position Bottlebrush perches around
the perimeter and place one in the rear corner for roosting.
Bottlebrush
Chew Toys.
I do offer some
Bottlebrush Chew Toys, however, my toys are not only great for chewing and
gnawing, but functional as well.
Add
a Play Gym toy. Here's
the theory behind these toys. A bird standing in the top of a
tree is life threatening from flying predators. Safety and
security is in the tree, not on the tree. So, I developed this
toy so your bird feels safe and secure when playing on his play
gym. As an added bonus, these are great for chewing and
gnawing, and great as an added play area on their play
gym.
Add
a Flexi Toy to your Bottlebrush Play Gym.
The Flexi Toy was developed as a "J" shaped chew toy and
designed to hang under the top branch of a play gym or in a
cage. The center core is flexible, and can be bent into any
position. Plus, chunks of Bottlebrush with colored rope and
rawhide make these great for chewing as well.
Both
of these toys will LAST and be a favorite with your
bird.
| Bottlebrush
pre-drilled toy wood.
Virtually
every parrot owner has spent hard earned money on a chew toy with
the intention of surprising your bird with a great chewy
treat. Usually, two things happen. First and most
common, it's destroyed in hours. That's by design so YOU buy
more. Second, it's totally ignored because basically, it's
boring and uninteresting to your bird. Either way, most parrot owners have chains left over from old parrot toys.
Bottlebrush toy wood are predrilled chunks of Bottlebrush you can string
on a chain and make a parrot toy your bird will love and for you, will
last. I stuff a 9"X15" mesh bag with toy wood, and a bag
of this stuff will keep your bird chewing and happy for a long
time. And for you, the money you'll save will put a smile on
your face, and a grin on your parrots beak.
Here are a couple of ideas. Take a chain, and add one
piece of Bottlebrush. Hang it from an upper step of a gym, or in a
cage. Your bird can hold and chew on this piece, and when done, it
hangs until your bird wants to chew on it again. Take another chain with
one piece, and attach it tightly to the side of your birds cage using quik
links at the top and bottom. Your bird can gnaw on this piece and
love this kind of chew toy.

Listed
here is the most popular item I've ever offered. Basically,
these are Bottlebrush clippings I gather when I build gyms and toys.
I stuff a 16"X13" reusable mesh bag full of great
Bottlebrush chew stuff. Your bird will think of these as BIRDY CANDY
and these are the BEST foot toys. Unfortunately, supplies are very
limited, so if you see them available, grab them, you'll be happy
you did. This is a typical bag, and this one weighs 4 pounds
of great Bottlebrush chew stuff.

What
to order.
- Macaw
owners. Keeping a full sized Macaw in chew toys and busily
occupied thru the day can be a real challenge. So, Macaw owners
should look closely at my Hanging Gyms (if they'll work in your home,)
here's why. One of the main advantages of my Hanging Gyms has to
do with your Macaws tail. My Hanging Gyms have no tray to damage
the tail, and Macaws LOVE to get my HGs swinging back and forth, and
especially spinning in a circle. You'll see behavior
on a HG you'll never see on a stationary gym. If you're looking for a
HG, order the Jumbo or Large. My Floor gyms are almost as good,
and are designed to protect tails as well. For a floor gym,
order the Large. As for chewing and gnawing, in-cage perches are
a must, and check out my pre drilled toy wood. If you're unsure
about whether your bird will like Bottlebrush, try some perches or toy
wood. Once you see how your bird responds, you won't ever want
to use anything else.
- Cockatoo
Owners. Same as above, without the tail problems.
Cockatoos are incredible active, energetic birds as you know.
And, can be more voracious chewers them Macaws. And my
experience with Cockatoos, (I've rescued 7 over the years) is that
most suffer from chewing deficit. Again, HGs are a favorite and
large 2s will get them swinging so high they almost hit the ceiling,
great fun for them, and a blast for us to watch. If you're
interested in a HG, order the Jumbo or Large. And if a floor gym
works better for you, order a Large or Deluxe for large Cockatoos,
Deluxe or Medium for medium sized cockatoos. As for chewing and
gnawing, in-cage perches are a must, and check out my pre drilled toy
wood. If you're unsure about whether your bird will like
Bottlebrush, try some perches or toy wood. Once you see how your
bird responds, you won't ever want to use anything else.
- Medium sized
parrots. Amazons, Greys, Eclectus, Medium Cockatoos, Severe and
Yellow Collared Macaws, Caiques, Large and Med Conures, Meyers,
Senegals, etc. I realize there are a lot of birds in this
category and there isn't any one size fits all here. You know
your bird a lot better then I do so use your best judgment. If
your bird is adventurous, Amazons for example, HGs are a
favorite. If your bird is not as active, look at floor
gyms. For HGs, order a Large or Medium, and for floor
gyms, order a Deluxe or Medium. And again, in-cage perches can
really improve cage time from day one. And my chew stuff will be
a hit as well.
- Small
parrots. A medium or small gym is perfect for these guys.
Again, the Medium has larger trays with more space and lots of
climbing space which these birds love. And, in cage perches are
also a must have. Chew wood isn't right for little guys, maybe
Chunks and Twigs depending on your bird. Plus, your bird will
chew on his gym forever, and it's unlikely you'll ever need to replace
the branches unless you want
to.
